Healthy Hair, Yes Please

If you are like me and are always struggling to keep your hair looking healthy try these tips.
I have tried a few and they seem to work pretty well and best of all they will cost you nothing!

1. Don’t wash your hair everyday – If you wash your hair everyday it strips it of natural oils, this will leave your hair dry and prone to breaking.

2. At the end of your shower rinse your hair in cool water – This will help seal the hair follicle, locking in proteins and will help prevent split ends.

3. Only Condition your ends – if you put too much conditioner on your scalp it can cause a build-up of oil on your scalp, yuck. (unless you have really really dry hair)

4. Brush or Comb your hair every 1-2days – This will help distribute the oil from your scalp to your tips, creating stronger, glossy looking hair.

5. DON’T brush your hair when it is wet – This can ‘stretch’ the hair, causing it to become more prone to breaking.

Ps. Try this DIY hair mask for really damaged hair, i will revitalize your hair and leave it feeling soft and silky

1 ripe avocado
1/2 cup coconut milk
3 teaspoon olive oil

  1. Mash avocado into a paste
  2. Add the coconut milk and olive oil, stirring until combine
  3. Warm up your mask on the stove or microwave (ONLY UNTIL WARM)
  4. Apply the mask from roots to ends, massaging it into your scalp.
  5. Leave on for at least thirty minutes or as long as you can, and then wash your hair.

Today is the very last day of my two weeks of holidays.
And i can tell you, without a doubt, it was the worst weather, in the history of holidays, ever!
It rained or was overcast all but 3 of the 14 days. (yes i am still pastey)
So to keep myself sane i spent more time with the 'The O.C' than any normal person ever should.

I had forgotten how much i loved it!

Mek-hee-ko louveeee

I LOVE a good dress up part-tay, and last weekend i went to one of the best themed ones EVER.
The theme was 'Day of The Dead' and everyone got pretty into it.
And for those of you that are thinking what the frig is 'Day of the Dead', does it involve zombies?
The answer is, it is a Mexican holiday where family gather to pay respect to and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away. And no, zombies are not apart of it, 'Sugar Skulls' are, and they are way prettier and more fun.

Here are some photos from the festivities, it was held at Tequila Mexican Cantina

 SO SO SO FUN!

And as you could have imagined there was a lot of tequila and sangria, nom nom nom
Also a SUPER BIG THANKS TO LINDA for letting us have her restaurant for the night.

Simply Happy

Well well, i am sick yet again so in an attempt to cheer up my brother made a playlist of 'happy songs' to listen to on my way to work/his way to school, Thanks Bro.

My favorite song was 'You Make My Dreams Come True - Hall & Oates', but i had no idea what i was called at the time but knew i had heard it in the movie '500 Days Of Summer', so i 'googled' it when i got to work (naughty).

I was so delighted that when i typed in '500 Days Of Summer happy song' it instantly came up! It is so nice to know that so many other people were as naive as me but associated the song with being happy.
Best clip, makes me want to join one of those flash mob things.

Marc; I love you

Meet my babies, Daisy and Lola, i love them.

But i think it is time that Marc (Marc Jacobs that is) and i expand our family, meet
'Oh, Lola'

This is Lola's younger, fresher, little sister whom i plan to adopt sometime in the very near future. How super cute and fun is the bottle! If Barbie and a flower had a baby this is what it would look like.

With top notes of Strawberry, Raspberry and Pear. Middle notes of Magnolia, Peony and Cyclamen and a base of Vanilla and Sandalwood, she smells fun and slightly more summery than her older sister.
i cant wait to add her to my growing young family.

Made with love; Lisa Brown.

Lisa Brown is an Australian label, based on the sunny Gold Coast, QLD! And her designs are just to die for. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, they just make me think of summer and warmth and HAPPINESS. Last year I wore one of her Poppy Frill Silk Dresses to my formal. (The beginning of my love affair)

She has just released her Spring/Summer 2011 collection and it is just so breathtakingly stunning. I would personally describe it as ‘carefree elegance’, perfect for the warmer weather that is on the way, YAY!  I was lucky enough to catch up with her to talk about her collection and her career.

A: So I am completely in love with your new collection, where did the inspiration for it come from?
LB: I often create as if I was catering for my own boutique, so often quite a mix of looks. Oneday I'll have an LB concept store to display the way I see it...Inspiration comes from natural elements, fabrics, people, places and the list goes on..

A: Personally what is your favourite piece in your latest collection and why?
LB: I have a few. The etsu pants are versatile, and love the elegance of the Sakura in Cherry blossom.

A: You only commercially released your label in 2006 and in such a short amount of time you have gained so much recognition within the industry. Even winning the Supreme Award at the NRA Fashion Design awards in 2008, what would you say is the ‘secret’ to your success?
LB: I have just persisted and still persisting, I still don't consider myself successful in the industry yet. How do you define success? Happiness and having a balance between work and leisure.

A: All your collections have been beautiful, when you look for beauty in the world, where do you turn?
LB: I find beauty in so many things, my coastal lifestyle, my beautiful friends.

A: Have you always known you wanted to be a designer and what advice would you give to someone wanting to break into the fashion industry?
LB: I was very much a tomboy until around 12, then I started taking interest in my older sisters clothes and playing with different styles over the years, I loved fashion but definitley not obsessed. It wasn't until working in a boutique and falling pregnant with my first that I became obsessed with the idea of creating my own label, and from that day I believed  I could make it happen. My advise would be believe in yourself and never give up because success could be just around the corner. Also pace yourself financially, be patient.

A: Any finally, what does ‘love’ mean to you?
LB: When I think of love the first thing to mind is my children, oh and of-course  my husband. I guess it's Trust, security and an unexplainable connection.

Thank you Lisa, and Good luck with your future collections (not that you will need it).

Lisa Brown is stocked all over Australia and online and her pieces are perfect for so many occasions! Anyone of her pieces would be a credit to you wardrobe, it will pay for itself in compliments alone!

These are my favourite pieces from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection

Charitable love.

No doubt you have seen the coverage of the devastating famine affecting Africa and in particular Somalia. This is one of the horrific byproducts of global inequality.
But as one of the more fortunate people, we can help out and it wont even cost you a cent!
It is Freerice.com, a interactive site where for every question you get right they donate 10 grains of rice.
That might not sound like much but it quickly adds up, to date they have donated in total 91 billion grains to help combat world hunger.
So jump on board and share the love.

Block love.

The Block on Channel Nine is one of my favorite shows right now as it combines two of my great loves, design and bad reality television. So today my friend Caleb and i filled out our application form, this was all sparked from a flat pack bed.

A few months ago Caleb and i were out for breakfast when he proclaimed that he needed a new bed, and now. He tends to describe him self as a 'now' person, for those out there who do not know or interact with these types of people, a now person is a person who gets a 'now' erge, when this happens they want something and want it now. Time, cost, and rational/logical thought are no obstacle to these 'now' people.
As i am so far from being a 'now' person i invited myself on this bed hunt to assist with time, cost and thought.

After many hours of shopping and an unfortunate miscalculation of how big a double mattress is in comparison to a Honda Odyssey we arrived back at his place (with the help of a ute) with a flatpack bed to assemble. Neither of us had ever had any construction experience so the task at hand was quite daunting.

The first half hour of construction was wasted on failed bribe attempts of Caleb's younger brothers to do the job for us, the next two on how to use the drill and the last to put the bed together.
Although we had 8 screws left over when we have finished, we felt as if we could build anything.

This lead us to believed that we could renovate a house, and today we filled out our application form for The Block 2012. Good luck to us!

Caleb and I with the finished product and our inspiration

Simply Shoes!

I 'stumbled' across these shoes the other day.
LUST LUST LUST.
Oh how i wish you could be mine, too bad i cant find any online stores that stock this colour anymore
Waaa.

I would have to say shoes are one of my biggest weaknesses, well heels to be exact. Standing at a mere 5'4, i need all the extra height i can get and I have a small yet rapidly growing collection.
A pair of heels can turn a boring outfit into something amazing, Imagine teaming these baby's with a simple summer dress.
Heels are sexy, feminine and fun!
