Made with love; Lisa Brown.

Lisa Brown is an Australian label, based on the sunny Gold Coast, QLD! And her designs are just to die for. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them, they just make me think of summer and warmth and HAPPINESS. Last year I wore one of her Poppy Frill Silk Dresses to my formal. (The beginning of my love affair)

She has just released her Spring/Summer 2011 collection and it is just so breathtakingly stunning. I would personally describe it as ‘carefree elegance’, perfect for the warmer weather that is on the way, YAY!  I was lucky enough to catch up with her to talk about her collection and her career.

A: So I am completely in love with your new collection, where did the inspiration for it come from?
LB: I often create as if I was catering for my own boutique, so often quite a mix of looks. Oneday I'll have an LB concept store to display the way I see it...Inspiration comes from natural elements, fabrics, people, places and the list goes on..

A: Personally what is your favourite piece in your latest collection and why?
LB: I have a few. The etsu pants are versatile, and love the elegance of the Sakura in Cherry blossom.

A: You only commercially released your label in 2006 and in such a short amount of time you have gained so much recognition within the industry. Even winning the Supreme Award at the NRA Fashion Design awards in 2008, what would you say is the ‘secret’ to your success?
LB: I have just persisted and still persisting, I still don't consider myself successful in the industry yet. How do you define success? Happiness and having a balance between work and leisure.

A: All your collections have been beautiful, when you look for beauty in the world, where do you turn?
LB: I find beauty in so many things, my coastal lifestyle, my beautiful friends.

A: Have you always known you wanted to be a designer and what advice would you give to someone wanting to break into the fashion industry?
LB: I was very much a tomboy until around 12, then I started taking interest in my older sisters clothes and playing with different styles over the years, I loved fashion but definitley not obsessed. It wasn't until working in a boutique and falling pregnant with my first that I became obsessed with the idea of creating my own label, and from that day I believed  I could make it happen. My advise would be believe in yourself and never give up because success could be just around the corner. Also pace yourself financially, be patient.

A: Any finally, what does ‘love’ mean to you?
LB: When I think of love the first thing to mind is my children, oh and of-course  my husband. I guess it's Trust, security and an unexplainable connection.

Thank you Lisa, and Good luck with your future collections (not that you will need it).

Lisa Brown is stocked all over Australia and online and her pieces are perfect for so many occasions! Anyone of her pieces would be a credit to you wardrobe, it will pay for itself in compliments alone!

Charitable love.

No doubt you have seen the coverage of the devastating famine affecting Africa and in particular Somalia. This is one of the horrific byproducts of global inequality.
But as one of the more fortunate people, we can help out and it wont even cost you a cent!
It is Freerice.com, a interactive site where for every question you get right they donate 10 grains of rice.
That might not sound like much but it quickly adds up, to date they have donated in total 91 billion grains to help combat world hunger.
So jump on board and share the love.

Block love.

The Block on Channel Nine is one of my favorite shows right now as it combines two of my great loves, design and bad reality television. So today my friend Caleb and i filled out our application form, this was all sparked from a flat pack bed.

A few months ago Caleb and i were out for breakfast when he proclaimed that he needed a new bed, and now. He tends to describe him self as a 'now' person, for those out there who do not know or interact with these types of people, a now person is a person who gets a 'now' erge, when this happens they want something and want it now. Time, cost, and rational/logical thought are no obstacle to these 'now' people.
As i am so far from being a 'now' person i invited myself on this bed hunt to assist with time, cost and thought.

After many hours of shopping and an unfortunate miscalculation of how big a double mattress is in comparison to a Honda Odyssey we arrived back at his place (with the help of a ute) with a flatpack bed to assemble. Neither of us had ever had any construction experience so the task at hand was quite daunting.

The first half hour of construction was wasted on failed bribe attempts of Caleb's younger brothers to do the job for us, the next two on how to use the drill and the last to put the bed together.
Although we had 8 screws left over when we have finished, we felt as if we could build anything.

This lead us to believed that we could renovate a house, and today we filled out our application form for The Block 2012. Good luck to us!

Simply Shoes!

I 'stumbled' across these shoes the other day.
LUST LUST LUST.
Oh how i wish you could be mine, too bad i cant find any online stores that stock this colour anymore
Waaa.

I would have to say shoes are one of my biggest weaknesses, well heels to be exact. Standing at a mere 5'4, i need all the extra height i can get and I have a small yet rapidly growing collection.
A pair of heels can turn a boring outfit into something amazing, Imagine teaming these baby's with a simple summer dress.
Heels are sexy, feminine and fun!
